Ombience works with
various individuals, groups, organizations and institutions
in society to raise awareness of the spiritual nature of the
arts and of the creative and spontaneous nature of spirituality.
Ombience was founded
in 2003 by world musician and yoga instructor Stephen Day
at a concert at the University of California in Berkeley.
Stephen, who studied
both music and yoga in India and then subsequently performed
throughout the world for several years, had long been inspired
and intrigued by the connection between meditation and music.
Ombience, literally
meaning the ambience of Om, was thus born and has since worked
with various institutions, including the California State
Public School system (K-12), California State Universities
and Colleges, private schools, art and music festivals, museums,
and yoga and meditation organizations.
The performing arts
group has performed at major venues including the House of
Blues on the Sunset Strip in Los Angeles, Cal State Berkeley’s
Wheeler Hall, and at the Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles.
There are various
ways to take part in the Ombience experience. For volunteer
opportunities, sponsorship possibilities, bookings, to join
the mailing list or, to simply make a comment or suggestion,
visit our contacts page. We look forward to hearing from you.
